When I was a kid, I wanted to be a fireman. I had a firetruck toy, fireman LEGO guys … I even played with fire (matches, magnified glass, the works), which was probably a parent’s worst nightmare.
There was even one time I tried to see the temperature of fire, so I stuck a thermostat on the stove. Needless to say, it was very hot. The glass thermostat exploded virtually immediately and red alcohol and glass were everywhere.
As I grew older, I looked into the prerequisites of becoming a fireman. With an inhaler in one hand, I gave my lungs a boost and read the requirements. I learned that having asthma was not a good thing.
While I’m not asthmatic anymore, my chopstick-sized arms probably need to be beefed up. In the meantime, it’s definitely strong enough to pick up a camera.
The idea of becoming a photographer is pretty cool. But check it with your head first. There are a lot of things to consider — like pricing, marketing, creativity, tenacity, and so forth.
We have about 40 years to work. So, keep it fun. Comment what your heart wants to do!
